A project centered on an old and iconic house in a state of ruin, located in the hamlet of Las Lapas, in La Frontera, with views toward the mountains of El Julan. The proposal divides the property into two independent living units: one on the ground floor of the original volume, and another on the first floor, expanded toward a former terraced area. The new volume—dark like the local basaltic stone—is separated from the original structure by a glazed fissure in both façade and roof, allowing natural light to enter and creating a respectful transition between the existing and the new. The shared courtyard includes a pool that makes use of a pre-existing cistern.
